Childcare Providers
Once I learned that I was pregnant, many difficult decisions had begun. One of the most important decisions and tasks I would be facing is finding the right childcare providers. I hated the idea that I was going to be returning to work when my child would be only 12 weeks old so I knew that I would have to find a place that impressed me beyond belief. The amount of childcare providers in our local phonebook was intimidating, I will admit. I narrowed it down to about ten places that were within 20 minutes of my house and started the quest of making phone calls and setting up appointments to visit.
Besides looking at childcare centers, I was also considering private childcare providers that were licensed for in their homes. I wasn't as keen on that concept but knew that it would be more cost efficient and owed it to my child to check into every possible scenario. The very first center that I visited was a franchise and I almost walked right back out. I was greeted by a screaming toddler who deemed it necessary to scream nonstop for several moments. I could not understand why no one seemed concerned about this or encouraged him to lower the volume of his screaming. In fact, most of the employees didn't seem very interested in the children. I cut my appointment short and crossed them off of the list. Within a week, two more childcare providers managed to get themselves taken off of my list as well.
A few more on my list seemed promising but the tuition costs almost sent me into labor. How in the world do people afford some of these childcare providers? It would almost be wiser for me to quit my job than pay these fees. My husband and I spent a few weeks contemplating that concept. Finally, after a coworker of his passed along his stepmother's name, I called her. We were told that she runs a small daycare out of her home and is absolutely wonderful. I thought that I would be the judge of that and very reluctantly called her. I had to admit that on the phone, she was very charming and personable. I went to visit her the next day and watch how things went in her household. The moment she let me in the front door, I got that warm and fuzzy feeling. She was just as darling as I could have wanted. The children that she had all seemed to adore her and were well mannered. She took a great amount of time talking to me and before the end of the hour, I had made up my mind. There would be no more visits to overrated childcare providers. I had found the perfect home away from home for my baby. With a smile on my face, I drove home and found my "to do" list. I took great pleasure in checking "childcare providers" off of that list. One less decision to make.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Help For Troubled Teens
Are you the parent of a teenager? If the answer is yes, then welcome to the club. I swear, not a lot can be more stressful and annoying, than raising a grouchy teenager. Don't get me wrong, I love my children and I always will. However, why can't they just stay sweet and innocent for the rest of their lives? Is that really too much to ask? I think not. Anyway, if you have experienced the teen years, then you're well aware of how hairy things can get. Anything from drugs, to alcohol, to sex can become a serious issue. If things progress and get too out of hand, you may find yourself in a center that provides help for troubled teens. But, hopefully it won't get that bad.
Have you noticed that help for troubled teens is becoming more accessible these days? You know why this is, right? It's simply due to the fact that children now days are facing even more difficulties and pressures. Although you probably dealt with teen sex and pregnancy back when you were in high school, you most likely didn't deal with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. This has changed the whole scheme of things. Pregnancy is no longer at the top of list of concerns. I must say that I have been rather fortunate in this respect. We spoke with our teenage daughter about sex and the usual teen stuff, and she decided it wasn't for her yet. Thank God! Now I won't have to shove her away in one of those clinics that offer help for troubled teens. Just a joke! However, we've had our bout with alcohol. Although we did encourage her not to drink, she still went out and stole some liquor with her friends. Yes, I did say stole. Believe me; she is now paying the price. I guess one method of help for troubled teens is community service.
Acquiring help for troubled teens is not all that difficult any more. If you have a teenager who is in desperate need of some counseling or "straightening out," then you may want to try the World-Wide-Web. The Internet can introduce you to various programs that provide help for troubled teens. The key is taking the initiative early. Don't wait for things to get worse. This can end horribly. Get the help for troubled teens that you and your child need. He/she is worth it. Growing up can just be a tad overwhelming.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Early Signs of Pregnancy
It’s a good idea to keep a look out for the early signs of pregnancy if you are trying for a baby. Its very important to see a doctor and begin a regiment of prenatal care as early in your pregnancy as possible, so the sooner you become aware of it the better. Even if you aren’t trying for one, no birth control is totally effective and so it’s a good idea to be familiar with some early signs of pregnancy just in case.
Probably the most well known early sign of pregnancy is a missed menstrual cycle. A late period for most women is their first sign that they might be pregnant, yet there are actually some early signs of pregnancy that can occur even before then. One early symptom of pregnancy that can occur even just a week or two after conception is the dreaded ‘morning sickness’. While morning sickness does indeed often occur in the morning, it can happen at anytime throughout the day, and can be persistent. Many women report having had morning sickness symptoms up to two weeks before the expected period was missed.
Another common early sign of pregnancy that can occur shortly after conception is tender and swelling breasts. Breasts often become tender before a normal menstrual cycle, but swelling and tingling sensations in addition to tenderness is a strong indicator of pregnancy. Finally, fatigue is another early indicator, especially if other early signs of pregnancy are present as well.
It’s a good idea to keep in mind that many women don’t experience any of these early signs of pregnancy at all and do not realize they are pregnant until well after their expected menstrual cycle was missed. Other women begin experiencing symptoms almost immediately after conception. The types and intensity of symptoms women experience varies from woman to woman, and can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy within the same woman as well.
Many women may experience some combination of early signs of pregnancy and not be pregnant at all. All of the symptoms discussed above can occur due to stress, sickness, hormone imbalances, diet, birth control pills or other medications, or pretty much anything else that throws your body a little out of whack. If you suspect you could be pregnant, its always a good idea to take a pregnancy test and see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Maternity Gifts
There are a number of items that make perfect maternity gifts. Yet, few gift givers think to include them during a baby shower. If you have a pregnant friend, relative, or co-worker, consider the following options when deciding on presents.
Often, during and after labor, doctors administer a drug called Pitocin to help with uterine contractions. Pitocin has a horrible side effect, water retention. Ankles and feet can swell to twice or three times their normal size. When considering maternity gifts, look at wide, comfortable slippers with good traction. Often, buying footwear a size larger than normal will work best. Even if the new mother only wears these slippers for the duration of the swelling, having a larger pair of footwear can be a treasure.
Pregnancy is a trying time. Emotions vary from minute to minute. Another great idea for maternity gifts is an afternoon out. You can buy the mother-to-be a gift certificate to a local spa or her favorite store. Dining out or attending a movie are also great ideas for maternity gifts. The idea is to get the mom-to-be away from work or errands and allow her to think only of herself. Even if the time away is only an hour, every minute can help reduce stress. She will definitely thank you for it!
Preparing for a child takes time and energy. The first few months of pregnancy are exhausting. Impending moms constantly fight the urge to sleep, and the rest of that first trimester usually includes frequent trips to the toilet or wastebasket. Paying for a temporary housecleaning service is another wonderful idea when trying to decide on unforgettable maternity gifts. Having someone else keep up with the housekeeping can lighten a mother-to-be’s load.
Here is an excellent idea for your maternity gifts list. Carrying extra water, baby, and placenta weight can be tiring on the feet and calves. Consider purchasing a massaging footbath for the mother-to-be. These relaxing devices make exceptional maternity gifts for a woman with space to store the massager between uses. The blend of soothing massaging nodes and water jets help alleviate aches and pains. Any mom-to-be will greatly appreciate this item.
My friend loved a present I bought her for her baby shower. While every other gift at her shower was meant for the baby, I found loungewear in a local maternity store. Her comfortable wear had become huge t-shirts and sweatpants, and that attire was making her feel frumpy. Among the maternity gifts I purchased, I bought a set of attractive loungewear that would work during the remainder of her pregnancy and contained breastfeeding flaps for after. This outfit became her favorite of all the maternity gifts she received that day.
