Childcare Providers
Once I learned that I was pregnant, many difficult decisions had begun. One of the most important decisions and tasks I would be facing is finding the right childcare providers. I hated the idea that I was going to be returning to work when my child would be only 12 weeks old so I knew that I would have to find a place that impressed me beyond belief. The amount of childcare providers in our local phonebook was intimidating, I will admit. I narrowed it down to about ten places that were within 20 minutes of my house and started the quest of making phone calls and setting up appointments to visit.
Besides looking at childcare centers, I was also considering private childcare providers that were licensed for in their homes. I wasn't as keen on that concept but knew that it would be more cost efficient and owed it to my child to check into every possible scenario. The very first center that I visited was a franchise and I almost walked right back out. I was greeted by a screaming toddler who deemed it necessary to scream nonstop for several moments. I could not understand why no one seemed concerned about this or encouraged him to lower the volume of his screaming. In fact, most of the employees didn't seem very interested in the children. I cut my appointment short and crossed them off of the list. Within a week, two more childcare providers managed to get themselves taken off of my list as well.
A few more on my list seemed promising but the tuition costs almost sent me into labor. How in the world do people afford some of these childcare providers? It would almost be wiser for me to quit my job than pay these fees. My husband and I spent a few weeks contemplating that concept. Finally, after a coworker of his passed along his stepmother's name, I called her. We were told that she runs a small daycare out of her home and is absolutely wonderful. I thought that I would be the judge of that and very reluctantly called her. I had to admit that on the phone, she was very charming and personable. I went to visit her the next day and watch how things went in her household. The moment she let me in the front door, I got that warm and fuzzy feeling. She was just as darling as I could have wanted. The children that she had all seemed to adore her and were well mannered. She took a great amount of time talking to me and before the end of the hour, I had made up my mind. There would be no more visits to overrated childcare providers. I had found the perfect home away from home for my baby. With a smile on my face, I drove home and found my "to do" list. I took great pleasure in checking "childcare providers" off of that list. One less decision to make.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Nanny Positions
A look through the local job ads will uncover many jobs that are geared towards enriching the lives of children. Some of these ads are nanny positions. A nanny is someone who provides care services for children in either a child care center or a private home.
There are many different areas where these jobs exist. Nannies that work in private homes can be hired as either daily or live in nannies. Nanny positions that require daily work will expect the nanny to take care of the children, household chores and maybe some errands. Nanny positions can also involve being live-ins and they are usually expected to run the entire household. Some of their responsibilities include setting appointments, taking care of all the children’s needs like meals, bathing and recreation, running errands, cleaning the house, and the like.
Historically, someone who held this position was expected to be a fulltime caregiver to the children in the absence of the parent. Many affluent families exist where the parent conducts business from home, but is unable to provide the children with adequate attention and care. This is where the nanny comes in. These types of nanny positions require the nanny to get the children to and from school, prepare and serve all meals, help with homework, accompany the children to doctor and dentist appointments, as well as chaperoning for the children’s extra curricular activities.
There are many over seas families who are looking for people to fill these positions residing in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity for those nannies that wish to travel and be exposed to a foreign country. These nanny positions are known to pay quite well, and offer a variety of perks. On the other hand, there are families living within the United States who prefer to hire nannies from outside the U.S. as they believe this affords their children the opportunity for exposure to another culture, as well as a foreign language. They will normally contact an agency in another country to fill these types of nanny positions.
Some families only need someone on a seasonal basis, when they require the services of a nanny to go on month’s long vacations. Others hire nannies for a lifetime; often choosing them while the mother is still pregnant. These nanny positions last until the children are grown and set out to make lives on their own.
When choosing a nanny it is important to conduct background checks, reference checks, as well as in depth interviews with the candidates. Entrusting the care of your children to someone is a matter that should not be taken lightly. By choosing wisely, you will be able to hire a nanny that will have your children’s best interest at heart.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Early Signs of Pregnancy
It’s a good idea to keep a look out for the early signs of pregnancy if you are trying for a baby. Its very important to see a doctor and begin a regiment of prenatal care as early in your pregnancy as possible, so the sooner you become aware of it the better. Even if you aren’t trying for one, no birth control is totally effective and so it’s a good idea to be familiar with some early signs of pregnancy just in case.
Probably the most well known early sign of pregnancy is a missed menstrual cycle. A late period for most women is their first sign that they might be pregnant, yet there are actually some early signs of pregnancy that can occur even before then. One early symptom of pregnancy that can occur even just a week or two after conception is the dreaded ‘morning sickness’. While morning sickness does indeed often occur in the morning, it can happen at anytime throughout the day, and can be persistent. Many women report having had morning sickness symptoms up to two weeks before the expected period was missed.
Another common early sign of pregnancy that can occur shortly after conception is tender and swelling breasts. Breasts often become tender before a normal menstrual cycle, but swelling and tingling sensations in addition to tenderness is a strong indicator of pregnancy. Finally, fatigue is another early indicator, especially if other early signs of pregnancy are present as well.
It’s a good idea to keep in mind that many women don’t experience any of these early signs of pregnancy at all and do not realize they are pregnant until well after their expected menstrual cycle was missed. Other women begin experiencing symptoms almost immediately after conception. The types and intensity of symptoms women experience varies from woman to woman, and can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy within the same woman as well.
Many women may experience some combination of early signs of pregnancy and not be pregnant at all. All of the symptoms discussed above can occur due to stress, sickness, hormone imbalances, diet, birth control pills or other medications, or pretty much anything else that throws your body a little out of whack. If you suspect you could be pregnant, its always a good idea to take a pregnancy test and see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Asthma Treatments During Pregnancy
Asthma treatments come in many shapes and forms. People who suffer from the breathing disorder have quite a few options to consider. Physicians can prescribe a number of medications that prove to be successful in relieving the symptoms associated with the frightening affliction. However, the options wane when the person looking for treatment is pregnant.
One of the most exciting times in a woman’s life is when she is expecting a baby. The mother goes through a lot of emotional and physical changes during this time in her life. Some of the physical changes are unexpected and uncomfortable. A woman can find herself sleepless, irritable and nauseous.
Having breathing problems on top of all of the other symptoms of pregnancy can really be a burden. Finding appropriate asthma treatments that can be administered during pregnancy can put the woman’s mind at ease. However, finding asthma treatments is not always so easy especially if you are pregnant.
Asthma is quite common in the United States and other countries around the world. Anyone who has suffered an asthma attack knows the symptoms. An exacerbation, or attack, involves coughing wheezing and the frightening feeling of being unable to get any air. Some describe an exacerbation as drowning in air. Asthma treatments are developed to alleviate the symptoms associated with the attack.
Unfortunately, the developing baby in the womb takes in oxygen through his mother’s breathing. If the mother isn’t getting any air, neither is the fetus. The baby is dependant on the mother’s breathing to get the appropriate supply of oxygen he needs to survive. When a woman has an exacerbation, the baby is at risk for not getting enough oxygen. This can be very dangerous to the developing fetus.
Many women who used asthma treatments that involved medication before they became pregnant often cease the asthma treatments. Women with the breathing disorder are afraid that the medicine will have an adverse effect on the baby. However, it is best to consult a physician before quitting the medication completely.
Your doctor needs to know the details about your condition and he needs to know if you choose to quit asthma treatments. You could be putting the baby at greater risk by quitting the medication because a severe attack will do more harm to the fetus than the medicine can. The more severe the exacerbation, the more dangerous it is for the baby. Abruptly stopping asthma treatments can do more harm than good.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Movers and Packers Help During Pregnancy
Recently my niece and her husband decided to build a new home. They placed the home that they are living in on the market and it sold very quickly. This was great news for them, but poor timing because the new house will not be done for two months. Another piece in the poor timing is that she is pregnant with their first child and due two weeks after the new house will be finished. This meant that not only did they need movers and packers but also short term housing and storage. There are so many options when it comes to movers and packers. The cost was a factor for them due to the expense of a new home as well as a baby on the way. There were also concerns about her lifting during the relocation process. As they contacted movers and packers they noticed that there was quite a range in prices for the services. Some movers and packers had very high quotes, and others seemed very cheap. My niece decided to get several quotes from the various movers and packers so they could make the best decision.
What she found was that along with the higher cost with movers and packers often came a great deal of service. The most expensive quote she received seemed really out of line when you compared simply the cost with the cost of the less expensive movers and packers. But when you compared the service it was easy to understand why you were paying more, you were getting more. The highest quote promised to provide all boxes, packaging and labels. They would pack everything without any assistance and would even clean the home once the movers and packers were finished. The cheaper quotes from movers and packers did not supply packaging materials and wanted the boxes pre-labeled by the customer. Also the more expensive movers and packers guarantee their packing against breakage during the move. This guarantee was not offered by the cheaper companies.
They decided to go with the mid-range quote from the movers and packers and also relied on family members. When it comes to cheap quotes for movers and packers you cannot beat the free service of friends and relatives. They will be hiring some of the unpacking done due to the late stage of pregnancy that she will be in at the time of the move. I did not realize that unpacking is a service that many of the movers and packers do provide. This is an especially helpful service if you are relocating to an area where you do not know anyone or do not have relatives living close by. There are also some movers and packers that do provide short term storage of your items. This needs to be checked carefully to make sure that things will be kept safe from various weather conditions.
