... ~~~~~~~~~~~~C Section
C-section
In many instances, there is a significant chance that during childbirth a woman will deliver by C-section, or Cesarean section, which is a surgical incision made in the abdomen and then into the uterus to deliver the baby or babies. Circumstances vary greatly and can be quite different with each pregnancy, and vary from woman to woman. Each woman’s individual medical and reproductive history is taken into consideration during the prenatal period, and is continuously evaluated throughout the pregnancy by the obstetrician. If warranted, a C-section will be scheduled to take place before actual labor begins, though this doesn’t necessarily mean that a woman won’t go into labor spontaneously before her scheduled delivery date.
A history of certain medical conditions may require a C-section When the baby, mother, or both are in distress, a C-section is the fastest way to deliver the baby without further complications. Developmental abnormalities or fetal anomalies require delivery by C-section, as do breech or transverse fetal positions. Other indicators for a C-section delivery are irregular or decreased fetal heart tones, prolonged labor or labor that has failed to progress, a very large baby, baby unable to pass through mother’s hips, prolapsed umbilical cord, separation of the placenta from the wall of the uterus (placenta abruption), blockage of the birth canal by the placenta (placenta previa), or maternal illness, such as chronic medical conditions, pregnancy-related conditions (pre-eclampsia), HIV infection, or active genital herpes. A C-section is usually performed under regional anesthesia, allowing the mother to be awake and witness the birth of the baby. However, some types of emergency situations may require general anesthesia putting the mother completely asleep.
Despite the fact that a C-section is major surgery, it is relatively safe and has a low rate of complications. There is still a certain level of risk involved, as with any surgical procedure; bleeding and infection, injury to the bladder or urinary tract, or even injury to the baby could occur. Prenatal classes are offered to expectant mothers and their significant others, and cover everything from vaginal delivery versus C-section, to how to select a car seat and bathe the baby. Even if a C-section delivery is not anticipated, physicians should discuss it with their patients prior to labor and delivery, to lessen their anxiety and promote a positive birth experience in the event a surgical birth is required. The expectant mother needs to feel comfortable with her prenatal care provider and trust in the level of care that is provided, and in the recommendations made to ensure that the pregnancy results in a happy healthy baby.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Acid Reflux Disease
Commonly called 'heart burn', acid reflux disease is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. It's annoying and painful. But you want to know the truth, the reflux of the stomach's liquid contents into the esophagus occurs in most normal individuals. However, when heartburn becomes acid reflux disease or Gastro esophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD, it is s real problem. That is because with GERD, the acid is stronger and stays in the esophagus longer causing more discomfort.
Most often, you will experience this during the daytime when you are upright, sitting straight, or standing. You body handles this reflux by the fluid flowing back down into your stomach. You swallow more during the daytime therefore draining the acid back to where it belongs. Your salivary glands produce saliva that also contains bicarbonate that acts to neutralize the acid your stomach has kicked up.
At night though, you may have a greater problem when acid reflux disease occurs that is because while sleeping, gravity does not work as well lying down, your constant swallowing stops, and the production of saliva is reduced.
Certain conditions make a person more prone to acid reflux disease, this GERD. For example, while you are pregnant, this can be a serious problem. Elevated hormone levels of pregnancy probably cause reflux by lowering the pressure in that part of your body known as the lower esophageal sphincter. Also, the growing baby puts more pressure on the abdomen. Both of these effects of pregnancy tend to increase the risk of GERD.
If your acid reflux disease is a minor condition, then you should only experience minor symptoms. These would include primarily heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea. However, if the condition is complicated, then watch out for the following symptoms.
The liquid that comes back into the esophagus damages the lining of the esophagus. The body tries to protect itself from the acid reflux disease by 'inflaming' the esophagus. Trying to speed the healing process through the inflammation, the wall of the esophagus may form an ulcer. The ulcer is a break in the lining of the esophagus wall. Then what happens is that there may be bleeding. If the bleeding is very severe, patients might need a blood transfusion or even surgical treatment.
If your heartburn is severe or acute, happening very frequently, you need to see a doctor.
What can you do for yourself to help the condition? Try sleeping a pillow a night that raises your chest up slightly so that gravity can bring the acid back down more easily. Since this condition usually occurs on a full stomach, eat earlier and eat less to keep the stomach from being too full. Ease off on the chocolate, peppermint, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks. Reduce fatty foods and of course, cut down or quit smoking. Other foods may aggravate the conditions. Avoid spicy or acid-containing foods, like citrus juices, carbonated beverages, and tomato juice.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Nanny Positions
A look through the local job ads will uncover many jobs that are geared towards enriching the lives of children. Some of these ads are nanny positions. A nanny is someone who provides care services for children in either a child care center or a private home.
There are many different areas where these jobs exist. Nannies that work in private homes can be hired as either daily or live in nannies. Nanny positions that require daily work will expect the nanny to take care of the children, household chores and maybe some errands. Nanny positions can also involve being live-ins and they are usually expected to run the entire household. Some of their responsibilities include setting appointments, taking care of all the children’s needs like meals, bathing and recreation, running errands, cleaning the house, and the like.
Historically, someone who held this position was expected to be a fulltime caregiver to the children in the absence of the parent. Many affluent families exist where the parent conducts business from home, but is unable to provide the children with adequate attention and care. This is where the nanny comes in. These types of nanny positions require the nanny to get the children to and from school, prepare and serve all meals, help with homework, accompany the children to doctor and dentist appointments, as well as chaperoning for the children’s extra curricular activities.
There are many over seas families who are looking for people to fill these positions residing in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity for those nannies that wish to travel and be exposed to a foreign country. These nanny positions are known to pay quite well, and offer a variety of perks. On the other hand, there are families living within the United States who prefer to hire nannies from outside the U.S. as they believe this affords their children the opportunity for exposure to another culture, as well as a foreign language. They will normally contact an agency in another country to fill these types of nanny positions.
Some families only need someone on a seasonal basis, when they require the services of a nanny to go on month’s long vacations. Others hire nannies for a lifetime; often choosing them while the mother is still pregnant. These nanny positions last until the children are grown and set out to make lives on their own.
When choosing a nanny it is important to conduct background checks, reference checks, as well as in depth interviews with the candidates. Entrusting the care of your children to someone is a matter that should not be taken lightly. By choosing wisely, you will be able to hire a nanny that will have your children’s best interest at heart.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Due Date Calendar
Due Date Calculator
So you just found out you’re expecting. The first question you’ll want an answer to (if you don’t already know) is when did it happen? You may want to use a due date calculator to figure out exactly where you are in your pregnancy. Some women know the exact moment of conception, either because it was a planned pregnancy or manipulated by scientific processes, such as during in vitro fertilization or other type of assisted procedure. Other women know exactly when conception occurred because they have had a limited number of encounters, leaving little room for doubt. Once you know the date of conception, you can use the due date calculator to find out the tentative date for delivery of your special arrival.
Due date calculators can be found on many sites on the web, and most only require you to enter the last day of your last menstrual cycle. Once you have entered this date, the due date calculator will compute how many weeks pregnant you are, and the approximate date you will deliver. A pregnancy calendar is also nice to have, because it shows the various stages of development the fetus progresses through during each of the three trimesters. From the moment of conception, momentous changes occur as the egg becomes a fertilized embryo and then a tiny developing fetus. By the time many women find out that they are pregnant, the fetus is well on its way to being a completely formed little human. Women may have no symptoms of pregnancy until they miss a menstrual cycle, which may be the first or second cycle after conception.
If a pregnancy is suspected, a home pregnancy test can confirm or deny your suspicions rather quickly. Once you know you are pregnant, you should call and schedule an appointment with an obstetrician, who will confirm that you are indeed pregnant (unless of course it’s obvious!), and calculate your due date by using a pregnancy wheel or due date calculator. If there is any discrepancy between the due date calculator and the physical exam, dates can be better confirmed with an ultrasound, which can be performed easily in the obstetrician’s office. The size of the fetus should correspond with the number of weeks that have passed since conception, which should also correspond with the due date calculator. If the development of the fetus is ahead or behind where it should be, then the date of conception is not correct, and neither is the date of delivery according to the due date calculator. If menstrual cycles are irregular, then the due date calculator will be less accurate, since ovulation does not occur regularly.

... ~~~~~~~~~~~~Japanese Weekend Maternity
Pregnancy changes everything. Your outlook on life is different. Your diet is different and your relationships with others have changed as well. Japanese Weekend Maternity recognizes the many changes that you are experiencing but with one major difference; the company is aware that you are still your self.
Japanese Weekend Maternity clothing understands that you still desire the same comfort and style that your regular wardrobe provided for you. Many other manufacturers of clothing for pregnancy neglect to create clothes that are made for a woman who doesn’t want to hide behind extra large clothing. Japanese Weekend Maternity lines offer clothes that compliment and accentuate the positive in a comfortable fashion.
Stylish and pregnant are two terms that rarely share the same sentence. In fact, the two terms rarely meet in the same paragraph. A pregnant woman still wants to feel attractive and this can be very hard in most of the clothing items created for pregnancy. Oversized shirts that have no shape just make things worse. At Japanese Weekend Maternity you will find a selection of clothes designed for looks as well as comfort.
Who says that being comfortable means that you have to look frumpy? I spent my first pregnancy in nothing but sweatpants and oversized shirts. I didn’t want to leave my house because I felt like I was as big as a house. If I would have invested a little more time and energy into my appearance I would have felt much better. Fortunately, I came across Japanese Weekend Maternity clothing.
Things have changed this time around. I may be a mom with another on the way but I am not going to lock myself up in my house. I am not going to dress in my husband’s clothes and I am definitely not committing my self to sweat suits for the next few months. There are too many things to do. Shopping at Japanese Weekend Maternity is one of them.
I found very comfortable clothes to wear in all phases of this pregnancy. I’m glad that I can still move freely and look great too. It is a nice feeling to be able to go out with my toddler in my clothes from Japanese Weekend Maternity and not be embarrassed about feeling frumpy.
My only regret is not finding out about the clothing line available through Japanese Weekend Maternity the first time around. I would have had much more fun during my first pregnancy if I were more comfortable and stylish.
